The Insolvency Department recorded 116,379 bankruptcy cases from 2005 until April. Looking back at the last three years, there were 18,053 individual bankruptcy cases in 2010 rising to 19,167 cases in 2011 and this year in the first three month alone, 2,870 cases had been recorded by Bank Negara, which means an average of 950 bankruptcies a month.
